The
34-year-old has pledged his commitment towards ensuring Buhari is re-elected in
the 2019
presidential election.
Obasanjo's
son, Olujonwo, meets Buhari, pledges his support, President Muhammadu Buhari
played host to Olujonwo Obasanjo, the son of former president, Olusegun
Obasanjo, at the Presidential Villa two weeks after he officially joined the
president's re-election campaign team.
The meeting
took place late on Thursday, November 1, 2018, and the former president's son
pledged his commitment towards ensuring Buhari is re-elected in the 2019
presidential election.
In a letter
of endorsement he wrote to the president's campaign organisation in September,
Olujowon said the current administration has begun the process of laying a
solid foundation for future generations and urged Nigerian youths to back
Buhari for a second term in office.
He said,
"The ingenuity of the current administration in proffering solutions is
highly commendable. No human is perfect, no government is perfect, only the
Creator of heaven and earth embodies perfection. We are on the right path and
should not deviate.
"The
youths of our great nation should join hands and support the progress and giant
strides of President Buhari, he is working commendably to free us from past
bondage and captivity."
Olujonwo's
support for Buhari's re-election is sure to not sit well with his father who
has relentlessly criticised the current government since January 2018.
Obasanjo has
also publicly endorsed his former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, of the
People's Democratic Party (PDP) to beat Buhari in the 2019 presidential
election. Obasanjo backs Atiku to boot Buhari out of the Presidential Villa
next year and believes he can do a better job as president.
The
election, scheduled for February 16, 2019, is expected to be keenly-contested
between Atiku and Buhari.
